The San Mateo County Transportation Authority and the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County is announcing a joint call for projects for the county's Pedestrian & Bicycle Program, beginning Monday, Feb. 14.
This call for projects solicitation covers Fiscal Year 2012 and Fiscal Year 2013.
Three percent of the revenues collected from Measure A, a voter-approved half-cent sales tax for transportation, is dedicated to pedestrian and bicycle projects. The goal of the program is to fund specific projects that encourage and improve walking and bicycling conditions in the county.
Walking and bicycling are sustainable forms of transportation and contribute to the overall goals of the Measure A Program and the Transportation Development Act Article 3 to reduce commute corridor congestion, make regional connections, enhance safety and meet local mobility needs.
